What is Netball?
Netball is an exciting, fast and skilful game. It is a game in which two teams of seven players each strive to keep or gain possession of the ball.
The team with the greater number of goals at the end of the game is the winner.
While Netball developed first as a game predominantly played by women and girls, it is now played by boys and girls, women and men. BBS have a few boys that have played over the years, but only 1 or 2 boys can be in the same team. More Information
Winter Netball - 2024
Winter netball is played through Terms 2 and 3 - however, registrations happen in February/March each year. All registrations for netball are made online - please see the links below.
Year 1- 4 Kidzplay Information:
* Games played at Pinehurst School
* Year 1-3 play in the school sports uniform, and Year 4 play in the school netball dress which is hired for the season and then returned.
* The cost for 2023 is $65 and if the team can not supply their own umpire then there is a cost of $10 a game for one.
* Teams must have a coach and manager to be registered
* Training times and days are decided by the coach once teams are put together.
NB- If there are Year 5 and 6s wanting to play in this competition please email Mrs Bibbie to see if there is enough interest to proceed.
2024 registrations for Winter Netball are now CLOSED - however, we are still looking for more players at Year 1, Year 2 and 3 and a Year 6 player, to make team numbers work. Please contact sports@brownsbay.school.nz to express interest.
Y1-4 Registrations
Year 5-6 Netball North Harbour Information: more competitive option
* Games played on Wednesdays after school anytime from 3.45pm - 7pm
* Games played at Netball North Harbour -Onewa Domain Northcote
* Teams are graded
* Teams play in the school netball dress which is hired for the season and then returned.
* The cost for 2024 is $100pp and then there is a cost of $10 a game for umpires each week.
* Teams must have a coach, manager and umpire to be registered
* Training times and days are decided by the coach once teams are put together.

Year 5-6 Netball North Harbour Information
Spring Term 4 Netball - 2024
Spring netball is played for approx. 6 weeks in Term 4 - however, registrations happen in August/ September each year. All registrations for netball are made online - please see the links below.
Year 1- 6 Kidzplay Information:

* The cost for 2024 Sping Netball is TBC and if the team can not supply their own umpire then there is a cost of $10 a game for one.

* Training times and days are decided by the coach once teams are put together.
