The school outdoor education programme operates across all levels of the school. It is a sequentially designed programme that enables the children to have the opportunity to experience a wide range of outdoor skills. It focuses on safe, challenging and enjoyable learning experiences in the outdoor environment.

It provides students with the opportunities to develop personal and social skills, to become active, safe , and skilled in the outdoors, and to protect and care for the environment.

Year 1 and 2
The overall aim of this programme is to introduce the students to a range of skills.
These children experience an Outdoor Education day at school. The Year 2 children continue the programme that runs on longer that the normal school day.

Year 3 and 4
The emphasis of this programme is on the application of skills.
Year 3 children will attend a one-day programme at MERC Camp at Long Bay.
Year 4 children will attend a two-day programme at MERC Camp which includes an overnight stay in tents.

Year 5
The emphasis of this programme is on the development of confidence
Year 5 chidlren will attend a 3 day programme at Peter Snell Youth Village. This camp involves overnight stays in cabins and is fully catered.

Year 6
The emphasis for this programme is on survival skills – both in the water and in the bush.
The Year 6 children attend a 3 day programme at Carey Park in Henderson Valley. This involves overnight stays in cabins and is fully catered.

Our FOTS (Friends of the School) fundraise extensively to support our Outdoor Education Programme.
